2004 National Youth Week National Talent Competition Winners Announced On International Youth Day

On International Youth Day Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Larry Anthony, announced the winners of the National Youth Week Talent Competitions – RockIT, WriteIT, ShootIT, DesignIT and SnapIT.

Thousands of people logged onto youthweek.com to vote for their favourite finalists in the five categories showcasing Australia’s top music, writing, filmmaking, digital design and photographic talents. This year, more than 850 entries were received across the five competition categories.

The level of talent among our young Australians is extraordinary as is their commitment to fulfilling those talents. They deserve to be recognised and celebrated, and by doing so we will encourage more young people to get involved in activities and explore new avenues in their lives.

A panel of industry professionals, including author Matthew Reilly and Zsolt Reggel of the Resin Dogs, helped judge the finalists across two age categories (12 -17 and 18 – 25 years).

The winners from the five competitions will share in more than $50,000 worth of prizes provided by National Youth Week sponsors, including Greater Union, Telstra Bigpond, Ninemsn, Girlfriend magazine, FilmINK magazine, Voyages Hotels and Resorts, Virgin Blue, Kodak and Samsung.
